The People’s Party (PP) is a progressive political Party in Malawi, founded in 2011 by Joyce Banda, the first female President of the Republic of Malawi (2012–2014). From its beginning, the party has championed the values of unity, inclusiveness, and people-centered leadership.
The PP envisions a Malawi where every citizen has equal access to opportunities, basic needs, and justice. It is a party built on the principles of economic empowerment, social justice, peace, and development, working to uplift the lives of ordinary Malawians through sustainable policies and transparent governance.
Under the leadership of Joyce Banda and other visionary leaders, the party has remained committed to building a better Malawi — one that promotes agriculture, education, women’s empowerment, and youth development.
Today, the People’s Party continues to inspire hope and foster unity across Malawi, ensuring that the voices of citizens remain at the heart of decision-making and national transformation.
The People’s Party is committed to building a people-centered Malawi based on inclusivity, accountability, and sustainable development. Our manifesto is built on six key pillars:
Strengthening democracy, fighting corruption, and ensuring justice and accountability across all levels of government.
Protecting vulnerable groups through safety nets, pensions, and programs that uphold dignity and equality.
Investing in irrigation, modern farming techniques, and market access to guarantee food for all Malawians.
Expanding access to affordable healthcare, improving hospitals, and ensuring essential medicines and equipment.
Delivering quality and inclusive education from primary to tertiary levels, with investments in teachers and infrastructure.
Creating jobs by investing in roads, energy, water supply, and industries that empower local communities.
Support farmers with modern methods, reliable markets, and irrigation systems that guarantee harvests.
Ensure that every community has access to well-equipped health centers, medicines, and trained staff.
Invest in schools, digital learning, and teacher development to raise the quality of education nationwide.
Promote transparency, enforce anti-corruption laws, and safeguard democracy through strong institutions.
Upgrade roads, bridges, and expand access to electricity to connect communities and boost growth.
