About the People’s Party

The People’s Party (PP) is a progressive political Party in Malawi, founded in 2011 by Joyce Banda, the first female President of the Republic of Malawi (2012–2014). From its beginning, the party has championed the values of unity, inclusiveness, and people-centered leadership.

The PP envisions a Malawi where every citizen has equal access to opportunities, basic needs, and justice. It is a party built on the principles of economic empowerment, social justice, peace, and development, working to uplift the lives of ordinary Malawians through sustainable policies and transparent governance.

Under the leadership of Joyce Banda and other visionary leaders, the party has remained committed to building a better Malawi — one that promotes agriculture, education, women’s empowerment, and youth development.

Today, the People’s Party continues to inspire hope and foster unity across Malawi, ensuring that the voices of citizens remain at the heart of decision-making and national transformation.
